Skills Clinics

Trail Spotlight Series

Ongoing Series where we tackle the specific skills needed to master one trail

Saturday June 3rd, 1pm-3pm

In this series of skills clinics, we’ll pick one trail to master at a time. We’ll cover the essential skills needed to be great on this one trail. Kanuga’s Rhodo Ruckus trail is a blue rated downhill flow trail. To be great on this trail, you’ll need to focus on effective body positions to handle the numerous rollers and berm corners. You’ll need effective braking skills to scrub speed before those features, and some cornering technique like rotation and angulation to get around those berms, driving the bike in control. To go faster, you’ll need great pressure control skills to be able to absorb and pump the rollers and corners. We’ll cover those skills individually in a controlled environment and apply them on Rhodo Ruckus itself.

  • This clinic is appropriate for all level riders wanting to gain more control, confidence, and have more fun on this specific trail. Learn how to master this trail with intentional bike driving techniques instead of just surviving it!

  • Newer riders will be introduced to intentional techniques to get down the trail in control with confidence.

  • Intermediate and advanced level will benefit from refining their fundamental skills while learning ways to carry speed while maintaining control and traction.

Whitney Houck is a PMBIA Level 1 instructor dedicated to improving your skills and confidence on the trail for maximum fun.
