Saturday June 17th, 12:30-4pm
Looking to tackle the wooden drops in the skills area or eyeing up the rock drops on Hemlock Epoch? The Drops Clinic is the perfect program for you. Our “Air” certified instructors will guide you through the techniques to handle different height drops, at different speeds, with intention.
Learn how to modify your technique to safely tackle drops with different angle take-offs, landings, and when approaching at different speeds. This clinic will start with fundamentals in the skills area and work up to intermediate level drops out on the trails.
Pair this clinic up with the Trail Spotlight Series for Hemlock Epoc the next weekend for a fantastic 2-part clinic for drops!
This clinic is appropriate for all level riders wanting to learn to ride drops with more intention, control, and confidence.
Riders who have never had their wheels off the ground will learn proper technique to get started, get PLENTY of repeatable practice on the drops in the skills area AND be able to some of the basic natural drops in the park.
Intermediate and advanced level jumpers will benefit from going back to basics, refining the essential fundamentals to ride drops with control, and be able to apply on natural drops in the park.
This clinic is taught by our Head Coach – Josh Whitmore. Josh is a Professional Mountain Bike Instructor Certified Level 3 coach, and an Instructor-Trainer for Level 2 “Air” coaches.
We’ll start with an intro to listen to your previous experience and goals, then set expectations and a plan for the clinic
Then, we’ll move into a skills assessment and move through the essential pre-requisite skills including Body Position / Balance and creating effective “Press, Absorb, Poke” technique.
We’ll spend a lot of time on the individual practice drops in the skills area. Depending on level of the group, we will use some individual drops on upper Hemlock. As always, we need to dial back the challenge of the terrain to be able to actually practice new things!
