Fundamentals Group Clinic: Gain control and confidence on the trail.
MTB Skills Factory presents a clinic to help you learn, or refine fundamentals of mountain biking. Whether you are a beginner or an intermediate rider who is looking to level up their bike control, fundamentals are the key for you to become a more confident rider. We will cover body positioning, braking techniques, efficient climbing, basic cornering skills, and speed control techniques with the goal to go down one of Kanuga’s green lines together.
This clinic is appropriate for riders who are beginner to intermediate riders. No mountain biking experience necessary, although general understanding of how to ride a bike and exposure to some trail riding previously will be beneficial.
Intermediate to early intermediate riders will benefit from refinding fundamental skills as they are the building blocks to advanced riding techniques.
This is an excellent introduction to mountain bike instruction and will be an inclusive space for all abilities looking to gain more confidence on the trail.
Maggie Rumley is a PMBIA Level 1 instructor, Wilderness First Responder, and Outdoor Educator who is dedicated to improving your skills and confidence on the trail for maximum fun.
We will start with a check in to see everyone’s goals and previous experiences.
Then, we will do a bike check and head down to the field for a learning environment meant to feel relaxing and thorough.
We will cover body positioning, braking, cadence, and climbing techniques in the field and then move up to the Kanuga’s skills area for more application practice. There we will utilize the corners, rollers, and mini trails for drills.
After gaining confidence in the skills area, we will climb to one of Kanuga’s green trails and apply the techniques we learned. Kanuga’s green trail is fun, flowy, and fast!
There will be plenty of time for repetition, feedback, and experimentation.
We will move through the drills at the group pace. We could spend a long time on one skill and move through another one quicker to adapt to the group’s needs.
